Hello and Namaste,
I am Asurupi (Asu) Gurung, a certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
Why I Opened Himal Health:
I decided to open my own private practice because I got burnt out after working for healthcare system that pressures providers to see more patients in less time, and as a result the quality of care suffers. I understand how difficult it can be to ask for help. Opening up about our mental health takes courage, and feeling dismissed or rushed by a provider during such vulnerable moments can be deeply painful. Having my own practice gives me the freedom to slow down, listen deeply, and to truly partner with my patients; it allows me to give my patients the time and presence they deserve.
My practice reflects a deep commitment to a holistic approach to well-being. While medication can play an important role in supporting mental and brain health, it is not the whole solution. Healing often requires time, self-compassion, and a commitment to personal growth through a multidimensional approach. I provide comprehensive, holistic care by integrating evidence-based strategies in nutrition, movement, therapy, social support, and pharmacologic treatment when indicated. My goal is to empower individuals to make meaningful lifestyle changes that support lasting well-being and healing beyond medication alone.
This practice is my way of offering psychiatric care that is compassionate, thoughtful, and centered on you—care that honors your story, your goals, and your path toward lasting well-being.
I truly look forward to working together!
I offer medication management for the following conditions:
anxiety disorders,
mood disorders such as unipolar depression and bipolar depression, depression due to seasonal change,
adjustment disorders due to various stressors,
PMDD (Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder),
PTSD
Currently, serving adults from 18-65 via Telehealth.
As a human being, a healthcare professional, and an immigrant, I understand firsthand the weight of work stress and burnout, the homesickness that comes with being far from family, the guilt of being away, and the quiet question of where we truly belong. Navigating life and managing expectations—our own and others’—can feel overwhelming. We all develop ways to cope, some healthier than others, and that’s part of being human. It’s hard, and it is ok to ask for help. Maybe what we need is therapy (and honestly, we could all benefit from it), or maybe short term medication support while working toward meaningful changes to support long-term well being. Whatever the needs maybe, you don’t have to figure out alone - I am happy to work together to figure out the options.
